Are you a fan of Kimpton’s hosted evening wine hours, held daily at our hotels? Well, here’s a thought for you to chew … or, rather, drink in.
Master sommelier and director of wines Emily Wines chooses the pours for their taste, as well as their makers’ social consciousness. With an eye toward promoting sustainable and philanthropic business practices, she and the rest of us at Kimpton excitedly kick off another year of Wines That Care.
Each month, we’ll highlight a different winery that demonstrates social and eco thoughtfulness in its own unique way. In January, it’s Wente Family Estates, a certified sustainable winegrower; and sponsor and supporter of Dress for Success, the nonprofit that provides professional support and attire to disadvantaged women.
Attend a wine hour this month for a taste of Wente’s Hayes Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. (We love the Cabernet’s spicy, coffee-like finish.)
Consider the complimentary pours our way of saying “we’re glad you came.” After all, they’ve been part of Kimpton tradition since company founder Bill Kimpton greeted guests with glasses of wine back in 1981. Enjoy your glass as you check into the hotel for the evening or transition for a night out. Either way, you’ll rest easy in the notion that you – as well as those near and far – are being cared for.
