Palomar San Diego Elevates With Skyline Collection

Destinations

San Diego

San Diego, where urban-buzz meets beach-Zen. Hotel Palomar San Diego’s new Skyline Collection of guestrooms is a perfect fit.

You know that U2 song Elevation? Well, we can’t help but take some inspiration from that tune. Sure, we may not fill mega-stadiums, but we do want to take you to new heights. So we’re excited to unveil a new collection of Southern California-style guestrooms and suites at Hotel Palomar San Diego that are designed to, well, elevate you. We think U2 — and you, too —will certainly approve of the recent updates.

On floors 16 through 20, our new 50-room Skyline Collection features 30 surf-inspired guestrooms, 12 junior suites, six suites, and two penthouses — all with sensational views inside and out (did we mention you can see Mexico from some of our rooms?). The refresh has bumped our room total from 183 to 211, and the first new space opens its doors April 27, with the entire rollout complete by mid-May.

The interior decor by Theresa Fatino Design smartly takes its cue from San Diego’s special blend of urban-buzz meets beach-Zen. We’re referring to that unique recipe of city sophistication (we’re located just a half-block from the happening Gaslamp Quarter) mixed with a healthy dose of relaxed coastal living. It’s the best of both worlds.

The rooms’ updated palette melds edgy city blacks and metallics with seaside blues, greens and greys. The contemporary high-end furnishings reflect Southern California’s distinct personality — like surfboard-themed headboards, bar-cart bedside tables, tie-dye fabrics, and sconces that resemble motorcycle taillights.

We’re making a splash in other ways, too. Starting in mid-May, the popular rooftop pool and lounge, SummerSalt, will host Saturday and Sunday brunches — buffet-style feasts accompanied by refreshing beverages (we’re talking mimosas and Bloody Marys, of course). Live entertainment will add to the festivities: Think chill vibes by a deep-house DJ on Saturdays and soul/gospel/blues tunes by a live band on Sundays.

And if you really want to take Bono’s Elevation lyrics to heart about feeling like you can fly so high, you just might want to consider the Take Flight package, perfect for adrenaline junkies. It includes a custom-designed skateboard deck with graphics designed by local artist Grant Pecoff, a flight of beer from one of San Diego’s acclaimed microbreweries, and a pass for a tandem skydive at Skydive San Diego. And then to soothe any potentially sore muscles, you’ll get a 20 percent discount at our Nature’s Spa by Jurlique (which incidentally just went through its own recent renovation). You can book the Take Flight package right here.

It gets even better. Channel your creativity for the chance to win big, thanks to an Instagram contest — through May 31 — that asks shutterbugs to share ways they elevate their own journey (through travel, food, adventure, etc.). Share images on Instagram with #ElevateYourJourneyContest to possibly score a whopping reward (valued at $5,000) that includes a two-night stay in the Skyline penthouse, $200 credit to Nature’s Spa by Jurlique, dinner for two at Saltbox, plus two passes for skydiving with Skydive San Diego or stand-up paddle boarding on Mission Bay. Is this real life (#RealLife)?

Here at Kimpton we believe the sky’s the limit, and just like Bono says, the goal is elevation.
