Hello! And welcome to day five of our “7 Days of Suiteness,” celebrating the rollout of our new blog. Obviously, one of the things that we think makes life sweet is travel. And one of the best parts of traveling is finding the coolest boutiques in a new city, even if you’re just browsing. So we’re going to take the guesswork out of your next San Francisco shopping excursion and let you in on some of our illustrious design team’s favorite stores for décor and stylish gifts.
Led by Creative Director/Senior Vice President of Design, Ave Bradley, the design team is based in San Francisco, and with so many new Kimpton hotels and restaurants on the way, it’s on a constant lookout for design inspiration. So you can believe that these places are going to rock. Here, then, are the 10 places that inspire our designers and why they love them.
A&G MERCH 2279 Market St. at 16th Street (The Castro)
What they love: Oodles of playful lumberjack-inspired knickknacks, as well as stellar small gifts for even the pickiest of recipients.
PROPELLER 555 Hayes St. between Octavia and Laguna streets (Hayes Valley)
What they love: The selection of sleek, contemporary furniture that will last for years, plus an array of unique products from up-and-coming designers.
MARCH PANTRY 3075 Sacramento St. at Baker Street (Presidio Heights)
What they love: The wide variety of exquisite and gorgeous cooking and serving ware for those who gravitate to the kitchen.
COUP D’ETAT 111 Rhode Island St. at Alameda Street (Potrero Hill/Design District)
What they love: The museum-quality collection of avant-garde vintage and modern furniture; Coup d’Etat is only open until 5pm (Mon–Sat), so make it an early stop.
Welcome to the jungle: Flora Grubb.
FLORA GRUBB 1634 Jerrold St. at Phelps Street (Bayview)
What they love: A bounty of beautiful succulents, exotic plants and other botanicals for both indoors and out. The gorgeous grounds, along with a cup of Ritual Coffee served on premises, provide a blissful escape within the city.
CAVALIER 1035 Post St. at Larkin Street (Polk Gulch)
What they love: The talent of Jeffers Design Group created this lovely store stocked with merchandise reminiscent of a personal collection from many international journeys.
MONUMENT FURNITURE 573 Valencia St. at 17th Street (Mission District)
What they love: Carefully curated and reasonably priced Mid-Century vintage furniture with a dash of Hollywood glam.
THE PERISH TRUST 728 Divisadero St. between Fulton and Grove streets (NOPA)
What they love: Nostalgic finds like a vintage dartboard or the perfect old typewriter; The Perish Trust embodies San Francisco’s Americana love affair.
ALDEA HOME 890 Valencia St. at 20th Street (Mission District)
What they love: Sweet nursery furniture, plus charming curios and little gifts thoughtfully selected by the owners.
BIG DADDY’S ANTIQUES 1550 17th St. at Wisconsin Street (Potrero Hill)
What they love: From vintage apothecary bottles to taxidermy in bell jars and rusty anvils, this vintage warehouse is teaming with oddities to spur the imagination.

to believe they do not exist!
