Kimpton Partners With The Trevor Project

Kimpton Buzz

“No culture can live, if it attempts to be exclusive.” — Mohandas K. Gandhi

Here at Kimpton, everyone has an invitation to the party. We enthusiastically celebrate diversity, and we live and breathe inclusion. To us, acceptance is a no-brainer. The uniqueness that each individual brings to the table simply enriches the beauty of our collective tapestry. (A world in which we’re all identical? No thanks.)

Welcome to the party … The Trevor Project sponsorship kickoff at Eventi.

Since the company’s very beginnings, we’ve stuck to an all-inclusive philosophy when it comes to our guests and employees. Because of this, we feel especially proud to announce our partnership with The Trevor Project. Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®–winning short film Trevor, this national organization provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. A few Kimpton employees initially discovered — and quickly became passionate about — The Trevor Project; before long, this incredible organization had profoundly touched the hearts of us all. As the Trevor Project’s only national hotel sponsor, we couldn’t be more thrilled to support such an important movement.

Here at Kimpton, we collectively admire The Trevor Project for the values it upholds. We also believe that diversity of beliefs, backgrounds, gender and sexual orientation can only serve to make a community stronger. Since The Trevor Project got its start in the late ’90s, hundreds of thousands of young people have taken advantage of its in-person and online life-saving resources (Trevor Lifeline, TrevorChat, TrevorSpace, Ask Trevor and Trevor Education Workshops). No doubt, this organization fills a crucial need … just check out this inspirational video:

With this new partnership, we will be the presenting sponsor of The Trevor Project’s Ambassador Program, which consists of volunteers in major U.S. cities who help ensure that LGBT youth have the immediate support they need in times of crisis. Our active LGBT internal employee resource group will work at the local level (think community outreach and regional fund-raising events) to aid existing Trevor Ambassadors in Chicago, San Diego, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. We’ll also team up for TrevorLIVE, a semi-annual event that unites top entertainers and corporate leaders in support of the project’s lifesaving and life-affirming work.

To launch this exciting partnership, our Eventi hotel in New York proudly served as the host hotel for a kickoff party on April 23. Guests across the country can get involved, too, by booking rooms directly through KimptonHotels.com and using the designated “TRPR” rate code. They’ll receive 10 percent off the total room cost, and Kimpton will donate $5 to The Trevor Project for each reservation made.

Thanks to our new collaboration with The Trevor Project, we feel we’ve been given yet another chance to practice what we preach. Life’s meant to be shared, and we certainly want everyone to feel they belong in our ever-expanding family. Come one, come all.
