Hotel Monaco Philadelphia is Open!

Destinations

Last week, we crossed the finish line at our newest hotel – Hotel Monaco Philadelphia.

Strike up the drum-and-bugle band: The 268-room destination is located in the most historic square mile in the U.S. Yes, indeed – we’re talking Center City, Philly’s legendary district and home to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

There’s just so much for we, the people, to love — including the building itself. The Empire- and Greek Revival-style gem was built in 1907 in homage to the preservation-minded war hero, General Marquis de Lafayette. Inside, we hold tight to the past (you’ll see it in historic design elements, like the original elevator banks and beautiful coffered ceiling). But we love a good modern-day surprise, too, which is why we added things like daring patterns, white tufted leather accents and sinfully relaxing Japanese soaking tubs.

The hotel also happens to have the city’s only rooftop lounge. (Two words: happy hour.) On the ground level, our chefs at Red Owl Tavern cure their own charcuterie and serve butcher-shop cuts of steak.

We celebrated the hotel’s opening with The Honorable Mayor Michael A. Nutter and enlisted a local bike shop to bring the festivities to a photo finish.
