We’re dreaming of steel drums, swaying palm trees and glittering aquamarine waters as far as the eye can see: Kimpton is going Caribbean, diving headfirst into gorgeous Grand Cayman Island. Our 266-room resort, scheduled to open in Fall 2016, will be the island’s first design-driven, boutique-style hotel. Set along the famed Seven Mile Beach — named by U.S. News & World Report as the world’s best beach — it will also be the first new project to be developed in the area in a decade.

With its pristine white-sand beaches and azure waters, the Cayman Islands have been luring visitors since the time of Christopher Columbus, who originally named the islands “Las Tortugas” (“The Turtles”). Swashbuckler — and San Francisco Kimpton hotel namesake — Sir Francis Drake renamed them after the alligators, or caiman, he found there. Today, the islands are renowned for their diving and snorkeling, and Grand Cayman, the largest of the islands boasts a casually upscale vibe.
We’ve gotten peeks at early design ideas for the property and it really will be a stunner, featuring multiple restaurants and bars with scenic views, a cascading oceanfront pool, expansive indoor and outdoor meeting and function space, and a destination spa. The resort will also take inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty of the island, offering a profusion of lush landscaping and green spaces.

Hi, as a former resident of Grand Cayman. I advise that you contact the Dept of Agriculture for the information needed to get your dog into the country. The process can be lengthy depending on dogs age and updated health records. Congratulations!
