Home to some of the most dazzling beaches in the world, dozens of shades of turquoise (seriously, how can there be so many?) extend for miles along the coastal waters of Turks & Caicos. Air passengers landing over Providenciales crane their necks to “ooh” and “ahh” at the ribbons of blue in the ocean as they descend.
Once there, the awe doesn’t stop — the sands are so white, they almost glow. Humpback whales leap from the waters. Brilliant, bright green mangroves snake around the coast.

The word “breathtaking” can be overused in travel writing, but the natural beauty of Turks & Caicos is, well… breathtaking. Really. Here are some of the best things to do to get the most out of a trip to this magical place.
Savor the Island Fare
Fresh-caught seafood, fish stews and just-picked local ingredients are the backbone of menus across the islands, serving up the opportunity to relish flavors you don’t normally get (especially not this fresh) at home. Conch is a must-try here, and Da Conch Shack is the most well-known restaurant in Turks — an island staple. Restaurants along Grace Bay offer epic waterside dining conjured by award-winning chefs.

Spot the Dolphins and the Whales
Boat tours with groups are easy to find and book in Turks, or you could charter a private boat for a half-day that allows stops for swimming and snorkeling. Either way, you’re likely to spot cool marline life like migrating humpback whales and dolphins — especially from late January to early April, when they’ve made their way to the warm waters to birth their babies.

Kayak, Kiteboard, or Stand-Up Paddleboard
The waters around Turks & Caicos, especially in the world-famous Grace Bay area, are calm and clear, so watersports are fun and leisurely here. Explore the ocean, wetlands, and waterways, paddling along bright green mangroves that extend over the ocean (and sometimes have cool wildlife hiding within).
On a SUP, kayak or kiteboard, you’ll be sitting right above the crystal-clear waters, allowing you to see fish, eels and turtles below you — an entirely up-close, ethereal experience.
Snorkel at the World’s Third-Largest Barrier Reef
Some of the best snorkeling and diving experiences in the Caribbean can be found on Turks & Caicos. A whopping 340 miles of barrier reef that extend around the islands are filled with over 60 colorful coral species and over 250 species of fish. You’ll also spot graceful sea fans, curious turtles at play, and moray eels.

Explore the Conch Bar Caves
A leisurely drive from Grace Bay and Providenciales, the Middle Caicos area offers guided tours of Conch Bar Cave and Indian Cave, the only caves in Turks & Caicos open to tourists. Stalactites and columns line the cave chamber, and walking through the limestone cave system can be a great way to cool down on a hot afternoon.
You’ll even find pools that fluctuate with the ocean tide within. Four species of bats call the caves their home, along with several different species of crustaceans.

Play 18 Holes
Golf is big on Turks & Caicos, with Provo Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course that is recognized as one of the best courses in the whole of the Caribbean. (Which is saying something.) As you make your way from tee to tee, swaying palm and coconut trees, vibrant magenta flowers, and even live flamingos will be there to greet you.
Sound appealing? We get it. It’d be hard to regret making the decision to spend some time in stunning Turks & Caicos.

Restore and Rebalance at the Spa
A spa day is a must while embracing the leisurely lifestyle in Turks & Caicos. Relaxing therapies abound here, especially along the luxury hotels around Grace Bay, and many of them feature aromas and ingredients native to the island, like orchid and mahogany.
With a new Kimpton resort opening in Turks & Caicos in 2027, right in world-famous Grace Bay, there’s all the more reason to begin thinking about the ultimate Caribbean vacation.
