The Votes are In

Nearly 80,000 discerning travelers voted in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2013 Readers’ Poll and we’re thrilled to let you know that a bunch of our properties made the cut. The categories range from “best island” (we didn’t make that one) to a region-by-region breakdown of the country’s best hotels (there you go). The voting was based on a five-point scale that took into account food/dining, location, overall design, rooms and service. We’re so excited about the Kimpton hotels that made the CN Traveler lists. Take a look:

EPIC Hotel, Miami

Superlatives abound for the EPIC, which made the list of Top 20 Hotels in Florida. The property earned plenty of points for its sleek, sophisticated design; room amenities like private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows offering killer views; and top-notch service. “This one’s a real beauty,” raved one CN Traveler reader.

Alexis Hotel, Seattle

The Alexis was voted one of the Top 20 Hotels in the Pacific Northwest, scoring high points for location and the quality of its rooms. One Condé Nast reader commented: “From the minute you enter, you feel valued as a guest and as a person. The cocktail get-together is fun — you can make a postcard that the hotel will send for you — and you get to meet other guests. Pet-friendly doesn’t begin to describe the hotel’s attitude towards furry guests.”

Hotel Monaco, Seattle

Another top 20 selection for the Northwest, the Monaco also scored high for its location, as well as service. “Loved the location of this hotel in downtown Seattle. It was convenient to anything we wanted to see and do during our stay,” wrote a Condé Nast reader.

Canary Hotel, Santa Barbara CA

There’s plenty of stiff competition in SoCal, but the Canary placed in Southern California’s Top 25, thanks to its big scores for location and rooms. “The restaurant is very good, and the rooftop pool is fantastic,” added one Condé Nast commenter.

Argonaut, San Francisco

The nautical theme and million-dollar location in the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, adjacent to Fisherman’s Wharf, proved irresistible to voters who named the Argonaut one of the Top 10 Hotels in San Francisco.

Hotel Madera, Washington, D.C.

Firefly restaurant was a big reason for this Dupont Circle hotel to be voted onto the list of Top 10 Hotels in D.C. Taking inspiration from a “twilight picnic in the woods,” Firefly’s contemporary American comfort food has made it a neighborhood favorite.

Hotel Palomar, Philadelphia

“Terrifically located off Rittenhouse Square, The Palomar injects a dose of liveliness into Philadelphia’s stodgy hotel scene,” writes Condé Nast. “The mix of whimsical and modern design elements makes the lobby and neighboring Square 1682 restaurant places you want to hang out in.” Readers agreed, making it a Top 10 Hotel in the Mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania).

Hotel Monaco, Philadelphia

Joining the Palomar on the Mid-Atlantic lineup of top hotels is the Monaco. Voters showered plenty of brotherly and sisterly love on the Philly Monaco; a Condé Nast reader summed it up this way: “The hotel oozes luxurious whimsy in every detail. The staff is exceptional, as with all Kimpton properties.”

Lorien Hotel & Spa, Alexandria VA

Acclaimed chef Robert Wiedmaier and his signature trio of culinary enterprises, BRABO Restaurant, BRABO Tasting Room and The Butcher’s Block Market, helped vault this property onto the list of the Top 30 Hotels in the South. The D.C.–centric location didn’t hurt, either.

Morrison House, Alexandria VA

Good ol’ southern hospitality and easy access to the nation’s capitol landed this property on Condé Nast’s Readers’ Poll of the Top 30 Hotels in the South. “Friendly and homey. Lovely place,” wrote one reader.

Nine Zero, Boston

With many rooms featuring dramatic views of the city and with a location right in the heart of one of the most historic neighborhoods in the country, putting this hotel on the list of Boston’s Top 10 Hotels was the patriotic thing to do.

Hotel Palomar, Chicago

How did the Palomar end up as one of Chicago’s Top 15 Hotels? Here’s what one enthusiastic Condé Nast devotee had to say about why she loves the property: “The handcrafted cocktails and fantastic small bites coupled with an overwhelming majority of handsome strangers make Sable, the Palomar’s restaurant, one of my favorites in the city.”
