Capital Bikeshare brakes at Hotel Monaco – D.C.
In other feet-in-motion news, we’re happy to report many of our hotels have new biking programs, from free rentals to access to a unique city-run bike share. If you’re heading to one of these cities, make sure you go for a spin.
Washington D.C.
Thanks to a pilot program launched by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), three Kimpton hotels in our nation’s capital now provide guests with complimentary 24-hour memberships to Capital Bikeshare. The Bikeshare offers 110 stations across Washington D.C. and Arlington, VA – each filled with bikes that can be “checked out” for trips anywhere in town. It’s a cool way to do some sightseeing, especially because DDOT has given participating Kimpton hotels (Hotel Helix, Hotel Rouge and Hotel Monaco – D.C.) bike helmets and safe cycling guides to give out to freewheeling guests. Scottsdale
FireSky Resort & Spa is also getting geared up. The fitness-minded spot recently introduced free bicycle rentals for guests. Bikes can be taken for four hours at a time between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily and include use of a lock and helmet. To learn more about Scottsdale’s many bikeways, check the city’s website.
San Francisco
San Francisco is one of those “walkable” cities. But you can get around faster if you hop on one of the new Dutch bikes up for grabs at Hotel Palomar – San Francisco. There are 12 adult cycles available for complimentary daytime use on a first-come-first-served basis, weather permitting. The concierge provides a bike map, plus plenty of sightseeing suggestions. Your best bet: Cruise to AT&T Park, ride along the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building, then continue on to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Ready to pedal? More hotels, from Portland to Baltimore have bike programs, so be sure to check with the front desk when you check in to find out the latest.
