We Take Hotel Workouts to the Next Level: The 17th Floor

Travel Tips

Palomar Chicago workout

Summer is upon us, and you know what that means: It’s beach-body season. Of course it’s not always easy to practice moderation and adhere to an exercise regime, especially in such a fantastic, food-filled city like Chicago. So that’s where Hotel Palomar Chicago comes in.

Embracing our core desire that every guest can and should immerse themselves into the true Chicago experience — while simultaneously raising the bar on standard hotel-gym offerings — we’re pleased to partner with locally based Shred415 for a summer-long fitness program that’s sure to put an extra skip in your step. When hotel workouts are this easy and convenient, you can have your cake and eat it, too, both literally and figuratively.

Hotel Palomar has teamed up with Shred415 owners/instructors Bonnie Micheli and Tracy Roemer for a summertime workout series that marries fitness with fun. And sunshine. And stunning views of Chicago’s world-class skyline. Basically, it doesn’t get much better than this during beach-bod season. Shred415 workout lessons take place on the hotel’s 17th-floor terrace every Wednesday at 6:30am, through Sept. 30 (weather permitting, of course). These are high-intensity workouts designed to kick-start your day and keep your exercise program on track while you’re away from home.

To keep things intimate and focused, class size is limited to 10 people. So it’s possible not everyone who wants to participate will be able to attend, but we’ve got some grade-A backup plans in place. Any guest can access exclusive, on-demand Shred workouts right from their TVs — a trio of 15-minute videos that will have you burning calories in no time. The hotel concierge will also provide Shred resistance bands for use during the videos.

Hotel Palomar Chicago pool

Take the plunge any time of year at the Palomar’s indoor pool.

And because we like to flex our muscles any way we can, we also offer guided runs along the lakefront with a hotel manager every Tuesday at 6:30am; have free PUBLIC bikes and art-themed bike-map routes that dovetail with our Art in Motion hotel theme; and provide yoga mats in every room, along with an on-demand yoga channel. Not to mention our year-round indoor pool.

Suddenly that beach bod seems easier (and more fun) to maintain than ever.
