Kimpton Catches the Austin Beat

Destinations

What can you say about a city that puts out its own CD, has several of the best-known music festivals in the country and has earned and registered the title of Live Music Capital of the World®? Only that you have to agree Austin, Texas, is a city that moves to its own beat.

Now home to everything from a new Formula 1-sanctioned race to authentic Texas barbecue joints, Austin is turning into a regular hit machine, with Bloomberg.com just naming it America’s number one boomtown thanks to a healthy economy that’s drawing a steady stream of new residents. Another new neighbor arriving on the scene in early 2015 is our newest Kimpton hotel, the Hotel Van Zandt. The Texas-sized boutique property will be 16-stories and will welcome guests with 322 rooms and suites. Enviably located in the bustling Rainey District (trust us, this is where you want to be), our newest hotel in Texas will be “deep in the heart” of a neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places and loved by locals for its cool and quirky bars, boutiques and restaurants like Javelina and Lustre Pearl, many of which are located in historic bungalows.

Inside the hotel, the wow factor will continue with a chef-driven signature restaurant, tons of meeting and event space and a big ol’ (it’s Texas, right?) rooftop pool deck and bar destined to be a new Austin haute spot, especially when you consider the city has 300 days of sunshine per year. Sounds like the weather will be perfect to explore all the fun and fabulous attractions located right outside our new hotel’s front door.

Sure there’s the amazing music scene and high-profile events like the South by Southwest Festival that make Austin such a platinum performer. But there’s also abundant art and culture of all flavors as well as all-season outdoor activities, so whether you’re into ballet or bike tours, Austin’s got you covered. We could go on and on, but the shortlist includes retail therapy lavished at indie boutiques and shops, tee time on the Austin Golf Trail, and even getting a taste of regional wine in nearby wine country. Whichever urban adventure you chose, your experience at our new Austin hotel is bound to be off the charts. See y’all soon!

I just stayed at The Lumen in Dallas this past weekend and was lamenting the fact that there wasn’t a Kimpton property in Austin – our son moves in at UT in two days! We can’t wait till 2015! Yay!

I am looking for a place for the Whole Foods Market All Star Banquet in November/December 2015.

I would love to see if this would be a good fit for us.
