Life’s a Beach at Kimpton

Destinations

Fall is officially here, which means many of you are bracing yourselves for blustery days. Before you put that swimsuit in hibernation, see if you can get summer to stick around a little while longer.

It’s easy at the Kimpton hotels that are near beaches. From Southern California to central Florida, there are places to dig your toes in the sand and soak up some sun.

Make a mini escape to these warm and friendly oases.

Vero Beach Hotel & Spa in Vero Beach, Florida

Canary Hotel – Santa Barbara, California
Perched just one mile from the beach in the “American Riviera,” Canary is a great place for weekend escapes. Hoof it to the shore or go by bike; there are complimentary cruisers available for rental from the Front Desk.

Hotel Solamar – San Diego, California
The easy, breezy, beach-y effect is immediate at this SoCal haven, thanks to its art installations that reflect sun and sea, including artist Tina Christiansen’s brilliant mermaid watercolor paintings. The closest beach is on Coronado Island, about four miles away (ask the Front Desk about taking the ferry over). About 8-10 miles away near Sea World lays Mission Bay, one of the biggest beaches in the area with tons of water sports and picnic areas.

Hotel Palomar Los Angeles, Westwood – Los Angeles, California
Take advantage of the hotel’s free bike rental and pedal an easy five miles down Wilshire Boulevard to Santa Monica Beach. There you can walk the promenade, visit Santa Monica Pier, play beach volleyball, take a surfing lesson or just people-watch (a favorite L.A. pastime). The hotel concierge puts you in motion with jogging maps for Santa Monica and Venice beaches, and can also make arrangements for beach cruiser rentals.

Surfcomber Miami in South Beach, Florida

Surfcomber Miami – South Beach, Florida
Direct beach access means plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun. Here are the highlights: beach volleyball (every Monday at noon), paddleboard lessons (Fridays at 11 a.m.), “Bellinis, Bossa Nova and Bocce” (a happy hour with live music and bocce ball on Sundays from 4-7 p.m.), a beachfront 3K fun run with the managers (Thursdays at 7:30 a.m.) and beachside yoga (Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.).

EPIC Hotel – Miami, Florida
This hot spot is right on the bank of the Miami River, where it meets pretty Biscayne Bay, so you get direct dockside access and marina services. Less than eight miles away South Beach sits in its see-and-be-seen glory. The hotel’s complimentary bike rentals will get you pedaling straight there.

Vero Beach Hotel & Spa – Vero Beach, Florida
This beachfront gem sits on the Treasure Coast of central Florida. Grab a kayak and paddle away (the hotel can help with rentals) or play beach volleyball (pre-schedule your game at the Front Desk). Don’t forget the hotel’s yoga kits (including a mat, towel and yoga band) that allow you to clock some quality mind-body time at the beach.
