Topaz Bar Toasts the Presidential Candidates

Eat + Drink

Obama’s Home Sweet Home vs. The Romney Float at Topaz Bar.

The election is just five days way. Decisions, decisions!

Seriously, how are we ever going to choose between going to Poste Moderne Brasserie or Topaz Bar for election-inspired cocktails?

We showed you Poste’s enticing menu a few weeks back. Then Topaz snuck into the race with presidential libations of its own. If only we had more time!

Topaz’s 2012 Campaign Cocktail Menu has specialty drinks for both Democrats and Republicans. When you order one, it’s like you’re casting a vote. The bar keeps a tally of cocktails sold. It’s a fun (and totally unscientific) gauge for who will win the race.

So, what will it be, Americans?

The Romney Float is a rich, non-alcoholic treat of Old Dominion Root Beer finished with whipped heavy cream and house-made “Salted Lake” caramel drizzle ($5). For those who can’t resist the hard stuff, a shot of Root Organic Liquor can be added ($6).

Obama’s Home Sweet Home pays homage to the District’s official cocktail, The Rickey. This sweet twist on the classic includes Bulleit Bourbon, lime juice, club soda and a hint of pineapple juice ($9).

Choose wisely – your delicious happy hour depends on it!

Topaz Bar is located at Topaz, a Kimpton Hotel, 1733 N Street, NW; (202-393-3000 or topazhotel.com).
