Where To Après Ski in Style

Travel Tips

With winter’s arrival, we enter the celebratory season of après-skiing. From fireside hot toddies to craft beers and hearty plates, shopping for cold weather wardrobes and later, a soothing massage before heading out for a nightcap, there’s something for everyone. Whether you hit the slopes or the town, below are our favorite snow lover activities.

Denver

Mile High City of Denver

Enjoy watching the moon rise over snowy Denver parks.

In between runs down the mountain, the Mile High City offers a healthy dose of après ski. Lace up your skates for a spin on Skyline Park’s ice rink or take a brisk walk inside the wintry Washington Park. Warm up with a cup of joe at either locally-loved ink! Coffee or Pig Train Coffee. The Winter Brew Fest celebrates Colorado’s finest craft beers alongside live music. And, on the topic of tunes, the 6th Annual Winter on the Rocks at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre offers a snazzy lineup. Later, return to the cheery Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver, with an evening sip at Panzano.

Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City’s mountains beckon at all times of year, but especially in winter.

While Utah is known for its famed light powder at the beloved Deer Valley and Park City Mountain, Salt Lake City remains a grand hub for all things après-ski. For a ski-in, ski-out whiskey experience, visit the High West Distillery and Saloon.

Later, sip a flat white at the minimalist Nobrow or visit the nearby Publik for an array of breads and drip coffee. The tea-savvy will enjoy premium selections at Tea Grotto, then find a cozy reading nook at King’s English or listen to indie music at The Urban Lounge. Come evening, nab a seat in our warmly-lit Vault Bar for craft cocktails or sneak into your room at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City for cozy rest.

Sacramento

Thanks to its ideal location, a weekend jaunt from Sacramento to the snowy Tahoe slopes has never been easier. Before climbing the interstate, gear up with skiing and snowboarding essentials from the A-frame, 37-year-old Land Park Ski and Sports. Post-ski, warm up with sips beneath the bright lights of Temple Coffee.

For pizza and craft beers Federalist Public House satisfies, while the rustic Karma Brew offers an uber-local menu.

At the end of the day go for a stretch or deep tissue massage at the Capital Athletic Club – and coming soon, you’ll be able to rest up at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel. Wake up and repeat for the perfect winter holiday.
