Wine Hour Meets Southern Hospitality at The Brice Hotel

Eat + Drink

The Brice hotel, Savannah, GA

Every good hostess knows the way to make guests feel welcome is to put a big ol’glass of wine in their hand, stand back, and let strangers become friends.

Located in a city better known as “The Hostess City of the South,” The Brice hotel in Savannah, GA, is really living up to the title. Offering daily wine hours in the cozy, living room–style lobby and outdoor Secret Garden from 5 to 6pm, The Brice gives guests the perfect opportunity to start their night out right. Even better? The open-container laws in Savannah allow you to depart the hotel for a stroll along the city’s cobblestone streets with wine in hand.

In addition to the daily wine hour, The Brice also offers three unique wine-hour experiences every month:

Canines & Cocktails (first Tuesday of every month)

Why should humans have all the fun? The first Tuesday of every month, from 5 to 6pm, Stella — a rescued Beagle mix and the hotel’s Director of Pet Relations — welcomes her fellow canines to a special social hour. Attendees will congregate with their furry friends for treats, fresh water, and introductions to new four-legged friends.

Sip and Stroll (second Wednesday of every month)

Spend an hour with wonderful wines in The Brice’s Secret Garden, then take a 15-minute walking tour of Savannah’s nearby sites and landmarks such as Washington Square, Emmet Park, and the Savannah River with beverage in hand (did we mention the city’s generous open-container laws?).

Bow Tie Fridays (every Friday)

Nothing says Southern gentleman like a bow tie.

Every Friday, The Brice allows guests to “tie one on” during their weekly bow tie-inspired social hour. General Manager Mitch Linder and his talented band of associates walk attendees through the intricate steps of tying the perfect bow tie while sporting their own unique collection from local retailer J. Parker Ltd. This tutorial is the perfect start to any Savannah wedding weekend.

As you probably know, complimentary wine hours are nothing new to Kimpton. In 1981, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants founder Bill Kimpton offered a free wine hour when he opened his first hotel, the Clarion Bedford in San Francisco, as a way for guests to wind down from the day and enjoy socializing with each other. That revolutionary idea has spread to each of Kimpton’s 60-plus hotels. What can we say? We love our wine.
